Recently, I styled hair and did light make-up for a spread called “Into the Wild” for the Autumn Lullaby issue of Babiekins Magazine. The photo shoot took place on location in the San Dimas woods resulting in a youthful feel, organically in tune with nature. The mini designer shoes and garments were adorable. Children are one of my favorite canvases on which to work because they have a unique glow and innocence that can be so beautifully captured. Also, they have an amazing tonality and dimension in the color of their hair that I am inspired to create through various highlighting and low-lighting techniques.
Summer has arrived and it’s time to cool off with some ice cream, yet you don’t want those flat abs you’ve been working on for the last six months to turn into a flabby bellyache of guilt-indulgence. Or maybe you’ve just become more aware of chemicals, additives, fillers, etc. that are in the lists of ingredients in the food you consume, causing you to dishearteningly put back ice cream after ice cream back in the freezer compartment. Hence, the only thing cooling you off from the summer sun is your uneventful, time-consuming stance in front of an open grocery store freezer. Read more »
Amy Winehouse’s death makes her the latest grim addition to the Forever 27 club, a group of influential musicians that died at the age of 27. Check out the tables below. The number of musicians who died just 3 years shy of turning 30 is rather extensive. I also find it interesting that their deaths coincide with the timeline of Saturn’s full orbit around the sun. According to the phenomenon of Saturn Returns, a person crosses a major threshold and enters the next phase of life beginning at 27 to 29/30 years (the time it takes for the planet to return to its degree of orbit at the time of birth). I guess for some people, in order to rebirth in the next phase of life, one must enter the gate of death.
It is without a doubt that water sustains life and every human being should have access to clean, safe water. However, there are many poverty stricken countries that are suffering from lack of water, which the majority of us consume every day and often take for granted.
On Saturday, 9 July 2011, merely 5 days after our very own Independence Day, we welcomed South Sudan as our newest and youngest democracy. Although a time of success and happiness, it is an extremely poor country facing the lack of an irrigation system. Without access to clean water, widespread illness has undeniably plagued the country, resulting in one of the highest mortality rates of death during childbirth.
Dig Deep, a nonprofit foundation that protects a human’s right to water, is currently basing its work in South Sudan to assist in further economic development of this nation. A contribution to this organization will aid in building irrigation systems and wells in communities throughout the country, which will provide clean water.
Help celebrate independence… one’s human right to be free… to live… Dig deep and create a well of water for those in need by making a charitable donation or simply, drawing awareness.
The April issue of Architectural Digest blesses us with photos from Vidal Sassoon’s home (designed by architect, Richard Neutra). The article reveals the fitting relationship between haircutting and architecture. Read the article here: The Cutting Edge.
A FULL-CG animated piece that tries to illustrate architecture art across a photographic point of view where main subjects are already-built spaces. Sometimes in an abstract way. Sometimes surreal.
